California Women Lawyers is concerned that domestic violence is the single largest cause of injury to American women. This is a national crisis that not only impacts the mental and physical well-being of women and children who are victims of domestic violence, but continues to impede the progress of equality for women in the home, the workplace and society.
CWL is committed to combat domestic violence by:
- Ensuring that the law provides maximum protection for women and children to escape violence;
- Improving education and training on domestic violence issues within the legal community;
- Promoting due process in domestic violence cases and legal assistance for victims of domestic violence; and
- Fostering awareness within the legal community and the community-at-large of the personal and societal upheaval resulting from domestic violence.
