President's Message

Dear Members of California Women Lawyers,

As we step into the month of May, I find myself reflecting on the remarkable progress our membership continues to achieve, both individually and collectively. Spring is a season of growth and renewal, and it is a fitting time to recognize the dedication, talent, and resilience that define the women of our profession. Each of you contributes to a legacy that began long before our tenure and will continue long after, and that shared commitment is what makes California Women Lawyers such a meaningful organization.

May is a month of significance for our community. It is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a time to honor the contributions of AAPI women in the legal profession, including the trailblazers who have served on our boards, in our courts, and in leadership across every sector of the law. May is also Mental Health Awareness Month, an important reminder that the demands of our profession are real and, at times, heavy. Prioritizing wellness is not a departure from excellence, but a foundation for it. I encourage each of you to take a moment this month to check in with yourselves and to extend grace to both yourselves and your colleagues.

Our mission to advance women in the profession of law is not an abstract ideal. It is reflected in the daily work of our members, whether you are advocating in the courtroom, advising clients, mentoring a law student, shaping policy, or balancing the demands of leadership and service. Every effort contributes to the broader pursuit of equity that California Women Lawyers has championed for decades. The work matters, and you matter.

I am continually inspired by the achievements of our members. From appointments to the bench, to leadership roles across firms, agencies, and organizations, to recognition for pro bono service and community advocacy, our membership demonstrates that women belong in every room where decisions are made. I want to congratulate those who have recently reached professional milestones and encourage those still working toward their goals to remain steadfast. Perseverance is worthy of recognition.

Looking ahead, I encourage each of you to stay engaged. Attend our programs, participate in committees, and consider how your voice and experience can strengthen our collective work. Mentorship remains one of the most powerful tools we have to uplift and advance women in the law. If you have not yet explored mentorship, whether as a mentor or mentee, this is a meaningful time to do so.

In closing, thank you for the trust you place in California Women Lawyers and in our shared mission. The strength of this organization lies in each of you, and I am honored to serve alongside such a dynamic and accomplished community. May this month bring you renewed purpose, meaningful connection, and well-deserved moments of rest.

With gratitude and purpose,

Judge, Patanisha E. Davis Pierson, Esq.
