Be a Part of History - CWL Video Project for Founding Mothers
The California Women Lawyers Foundation is creating a film on the history of California Women Lawyers (CWL) as an organization. The film will be screened at the annual dinner at the State Bar Conference on September 11, 2009. We are seeking the participation of our founding mothers, past presidents or others who have contributed to CWL.
We have already had the privilege of filming several of the founding mothers and early board members who generously shared their anecdotes and recollections about the early days of CWL. We heard stories of the inception of CWL and the important legislative advocacy successfully pursued by the women of CWL. Examples of successful legislative change benefiting women include pregnancy leave and comparable pay legislation.
Hearing the stories from our founding mothers about the battles fought, those won and those lost, is inspirational. It also provides a timely reminder that the goals and accomplishments of CWL remain vital to the future of women lawyers and women in society.
We anticipate filming in Southern California on April 24, location to be confirmed. To request material or to be in the film, please contact the CWL Executive Office at 916-646-3114 or visit the CWL website at www.cwl.org. Alternatively, contact Carol Copsey at ccopsey@gordonrees.com or Kelly Robbins at kelly@robbinsfamilylaw.com. We also seek resources from litigation support providers to assist with the filming. We are very excited about this project, and hope you will agree that it is a timely endeavor important for future generations of California Women Lawyers.
