CWL Foundation

The California Women Lawyers (CWL) is the only statewide bar association which serves as the voice for women lawyers in California. 

CWL Foundation, our Foundation, serves to educate lawyers and the general public regarding women in the legal professional and legal issues pertaining to women. 

Among other great work, CWL Foundation provides academic stipends for women as they prepare for the California Bar Exam or work their way through law school.  The recipients are those who have demonstrated a commitment to the advancement of women in the legal profession and the purpose of the scholarship is to help meet the educational and financial needs of women who share the same goals and ideals as CWL.  Eligible candidates will be selected by CWL Affiliate Organizations and the awards will be presented at the CWL Annual Dinner.

CWL Foundation produces educational and awareness materials that strive to enlighten society and the legal community as part of our efforts to provide equal access and opportunities for women in the law and in society.  In fact, our 2010 project “Lessons from our Mothers,” which chronicles the California history of women in the legal profession and the paths our forewomen paved for today’s women lawyers, is available at CWL.org.
